Recorded alongside a real-time sunrise over Edinburgh Castle, she shares three lessons from her final JUMP Adventures trip of the year to Peru, including why the in-between moments matter more than landmarks, how taking the road less traveled deepens meaning, and why slow travel creates the strongest connection to place.
Jackie also shares an important update on JUMP Adventures, explaining her decision to step back from leading public group trips after ten years of guiding people through challenging experiences around the world. While her role is shifting, the heart of JUMP remains intact, with trusted itineraries and partnerships still available for those ready to gather their own people and do hard things together.
The episode closes with what’s next for Jackie, including a solo trip to Scotland for a writer’s retreat over Thanksgiving and her birthday, where she finally created space to focus fully on writing her book. She also shares her end-of-year reflection practices and her “word for 2026” as an invitation to make space, listen inward, and step intentionally into the next chapter.

Raised in the U.S. yet deeply rooted in the Andes through family and spirit, Terry bridges two worlds, blending modern Western sensibilities with the ancient wisdom of Andean cosmology.
Terry takes us on a transformative journey through the lush landscapes and spiritual heart of the Sacred Valley, where mountains are revered as living deities and the Quechua people honor Pachamama, Mother Earth, through rituals of gratitude and reciprocity. He shares the remarkable story of his mother’s vision to build Willka T’ika nearly 30 years ago, creating one of Peru’s first luxury wellness sanctuaries devoted to yoga, nature, and the spiritual traditions of the Andes. What began as a family dream has evolved into a destination for seekers from around the world, drawn to its sacred gardens, ancient energy, and timeless wisdom.
In this episode, we explore the essence of Andean cosmology, including its three worlds of spirit, earth, and underworld, its deep reverence for the mountains known as Apus, and the practice of ayni, a guiding principle of balance and reciprocity with the natural world. Terry also shares how his Western business training and his father’s background in both medicine and shamanism inform his unique approach to leadership, wellness, and purpose.
Join us for a rich and soulful conversation about finding harmony between modern life and ancient truth, reconnecting with the spirit of the earth, and discovering what it means to live in true reciprocity with the world around us.more

Heather Jasper is a travel writer and photographer who has been based in Cusco, Peru, since 2019. She has written for BBC Travel, Fodor’s, Frommer’s, and other major outlets, leading readers off the beaten path across Peru.
In this episode, we dig into why Heather believes it’s nearly impossible to hike the Inca Trail ethically, and she offers lesser-known, more respectful alternatives and hidden gems across Peru.
This episode may help you become a better traveler and make more informed decisions. Heather explains why the system behind the Inca Trail, from permit quotas to porter treatment, is deeply flawed. You’ll hear exactly what red flags to look for when choosing a trekking company in Peru and what questions to ask before booking. We also explore alternative routes that offer just as much beauty with less harm, plus other parts of Peru that travelers often skip entirely.
What’s one assumption you hold about a destination you’re planning, and how might you challenge it? I'd love to hear about it, and I hope you’ll share by sending me an audio message.

This small-group journey, involving ~24 travelers, offers a deep dive into the culture, biodiversity, and challenges of life in the Amazon Basin.
The trip began in Lima, Peru, and then took the group via domestic flight to Iquitos, one of the world’s most isolated cities, accessible only by air or river. From there, they traveled 97 km by road to Nauta to embark on the riverboat Amatista. For five days, they cruised the Marañón, Ucayali, and Amazon Rivers, exploring tributaries like the Yanayacu ("Black Water") River in skiffs and visiting riverside communities near and within the Pacaya-Samiria National Reserve.
Highlights included:
Spotting Amazon wildlife such as pink and gray river dolphins, spider monkeys, black-collared hawks, pygmy marmosets, capybaras, horned screamers, long-nosed bats, sloths, and dozens of tropical birds, including toucans, macaws, and herons.

From the Last Incan Bridge and the Machu Picchu of the North to the Everlasting Lightning Storm and a statue of a squid fighting a whale the size of the statue of liberty (yes, you read that right), this is an epic ride through Colombia, Venezuela, Bolivia and Peru’s weirdest and wildest wonders. The stuff glittering in the shadows that you may never have heard of before, but you’ll be desperate to see after.
But it’s more than that too. When we think of wonders of the world we think of The Grand Canyon, the Great Pyramids. These are undeniably awe-inspiring, but they’re obvious. Everyone goes there, and all too often the experience and the destination suffer as result. Atlas Obscura’s mission is to open our eyes to the wonders all around us, the bizarre, hilarious, incredible things that inspire our curiosity and make our jaws drop at the amazing world we share. Wonder is a state of mind, they say, not a place; and the more we look for it, the more it becomes a part of who we are. This is a quest to discover South America’s hidden wonders, but we may just discover something hidden in ourselves too.
“The problem of failing to recognise the magic in the world lies not with the world, but with us; and it is our job to turn ourselves into vessels of recognising that magic.”
- Dylan Thuras, co-founder Atlas Obscura
Highlights include:
· Visit the Last Incan Bridge, an 120-foot long woven grass suspension bridge, straight out of Indiana Jones, which has been re-built every year for more than five centuries.
· Stand at the base of Gocta Falls, the most incredible waterfall you’ve never heard of – twice the size of the Empire State Building.
· See Venezuela’s Everlasting Lightning Storm, the most electric place on the planet.
· Meet the Colombian village who travel by home-made zip-line across the jungle.
· Find out about the inspiration for Atlas Obscura, how it went from a childhood love of weird Midwestern roadside attractions to a global phenomenon and New York Times bestseller.
· Hear about such crazy historical inventions as the cat piano, the vomiting statue and a language created entirely out of music
· Learn how by changing our mindset we can escape the wonder deficit of the modern world and live more meaningful and extraordinary lives

Why should you visit Machu Picchu?
Michael says, "I'm going to tell you why I wanted to go to Machu Picchu. First, as I have to say, probably a fifth-grade student, it was just one of those iconic historical places that I remember from my childhood. Always saying, 'I'm going to go there someday.'"
Michael recommends a carefully planned itinerary for visiting Machu Picchu and its surrounding areas, focusing on acclimatization, cultural immersion, and maximizing the experience. Here's the itinerary he outlines:
Day 1: Arrival in Lima (Miraflores District)
Objective : Relax after the flight and ease into the trip.
Stay : Miraflores, a safe and upscale district with excellent dining options and boutique hotels.
Activities :
Explore the Malecón (a scenic coastal walkway).
Visit nearby Barranco for its artsy vibe and street art.
Have dinner at Isolina , a restaurant known for authentic Peruvian food.
Tip : Avoid visiting downtown Lima unless you have extra time, as the Spanish colonial architecture is similar to what you'll see in Cusco.

In college, she did a study abroad in Japan, which sparked her love for travel. After college, she struggled to find a job that aligned with her passion for travel, so she taught herself web design and eventually landed a remote job. She then took the leap to become a digital nomad and traveled while working remotely. Andrea shares her experience of traveling without a plan and how it led to amazing opportunities. She discusses the benefits of being flexible and going with the flow while traveling. Andrea gives tips on finding remote work, creating a digital nomad lifestyle, finding community while traveling and shares resources for remote job opportunities. In this episode, you will learn:
